Hydernagar: Tank to be cleansed of garbage, weeds
Hydernagar: Local corporator Janakirama Raju on Monday launched works to remove garbage and wild weeds, which have been fast spreading across Kindikunta Cheruvu and its surrounding areas.
The garbage and weeds were emitting foul smell and resulting in breeding of mosquitoes, causing health problems in the nearby colonies. People of Allapur Society had brought the twin problems to the notice of the corporator, following which the work was launched by the KPHB sanitation staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Raju stated that the entire garbage and weeds would be removed from the water body so as to check the spread of mosquitoes. He promised steps to prevent flow of drainage into the Kindikunta Cheruvu.
The corporator advised the residents not to dump garbage in to the Cheruvu and hand over the segregated waste to the sanitation staff, while stressing the importance of people keeping their surroundings clean and green to maintain good health and prevent diseases from afflicting them. He said it would be possible to maintain a healthy colony with the cooperation of the residents.
Among those present were Entomology supervisor Narsimha, colony residents Sheshayya, Rammohan Raju, Muralidhar Rao, Appi Reddy, P Shiva Reddy, Sambasiva Reddy.
