Nasreen Sultana, Moghalpura

The Corporator-elect of Moghalpura, Nasreen Sultana (AIMIM), is confident of solving all the major problems in the division. The 32-year-old is a resident of Yakutpura and served as corporator for Talabchanchalam in her first term from 2016.

Sultana has been in the party for the last 15 years and was a Rein Bazar ward committee member, after she ventured into politics. In the recent GHMC polls, she fought from Moghalpura and won from this un-reserved (women) ward. She is amongst the few women corporators from the GHMC Charminar zone who are active on the ground.

Moghalpura comes under the Charminar constituency whose MLA is AIMIM senior leader Mumtaz Ahmed Khan. "After I served as Talabchanchalam corporator, which mostly comprises slums, and taking up different development works, I am confident of dealing with problems of Moghalpura. Given my track record, people of Moghalpura have placed faith in me," points out Nasreen Sultana.

She said during the first term as corporator, she executed major civic works including roads, sewerage system, 'nala' development. "Talabchanchalam was one of the biggest slums in the City. As its corporator I completed most major works in the last four years."

Nasreen Sultana explained that she oversaw development works worth Rs 27 crore, including roads, CRMP/PPM works, two 'Basti Dawakhanas' and most importantly of nalas. "The division has eight nalas, which are now developed. This helped resolve the major issue of water-logging during monsoon. Works costing Rs 2 crore relating to change of water/sewage pipelines were taken up. More such works are in progress," she added. After the elections, one more project was sanctioned following her representation---laying of CC road near railway track starting from Talabkatta to Uppuguda, costing Rs 7 crore. "In Moghalpura I will be focusing mostly on slums, health care and sanitation. The division has sewerage and drinking water problems besides bad roads. My priorities include resolving sewage and drinking water issues. I want to bring more development works, with my previous experience of Talabchanchalam," she exuded confidence. "The division already has two Basti Dawakhanas. I will be proposing a UPHC, for increasing health care facilities. I will also be focusing on education for children. There is a government school in Sultan Shahi, once it re-opens I will be visiting and providing them the best amenities," she added.
