Hyderabad: Police lathi-charge Congress activists
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Qutbullapur after police resorted to lathi-charge on Congress workers who tried to barge into GHMC office. Trouble started after Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy and former MLA Kuna Srisailam Goud staged a dharna in front of the GHMC office.
They were agitated over the rejection of the nomination of K Srinivas Goud, who is the brother of Srisailam Goud during scrutiny done on Saturday.
Police personnel tried to thwart attempts of protestors who tried to force their way into the office. Later, they resorted to lathi-charge. In the melee, SI K Manmadh Rao suffered injuries. While the protestors were being pulled into a DCM Van, a woman named Padma fell down accidentally. She was shifted to a hospital for treatment. Former MLA Srisailam Goud was arrested and shifted to a police station. Revanth Reddy alleged that Returning Officer unfairly rejected the nomination of Srinivas Goud.
