Hyderabad: One-month-old baby sold for 70,000 by father, rescued
The city police has rescued a one-month-old baby boy who was sold for Rs 70,000 by his father in Hyderabad and handed over to the child welfare department.
The baby's father, a pavement dweller earns their livelihood by indulging in begging and taking up petty jobs. The police said that a couple approached the baby's father and offered Rs 70,000 for the infant. The baby was sold to the couple 10 days ago. However, the police received a complaint from the boy's mother a week after the baby has gone missing.
The police tracked the couple and located the baby on Thursday by verifying the CCTV footage. They took the baby from the couple and handed it over to the child welfare department.
A case under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act has been registered. Further investigation is underway.rescue
