Hyderabad Book Fair to kick off on Dec 23 at Telangana Kala Bharathi

Hyderabad: Once again it would bring smiles on the faces of books lovers, as the 33rdedition of Hyderabad National Book Fair is going to raise its curtains on December 23 at Telangana Kala Bharathi, NTR Stadium.

For the very first time, the fair wouldsee a free personality development test for Class 7 students and above. This test would be conducted by Brain–O-Script, a career counseling center at Manikonda.

There would be a total of 330 bookstalls and also various publishers that include (MunshiramManoharlal Publishers, Nava Telangana Publishing House ) from all over India are likely to participate in the fair that is being jointly organized by the government of Telangana and Book Fair Society.

J Gauri Shankar, the president of Book Fair Society, said, "Book reading culture is slowly vanishing from the city due to rising use of technology and there is a great need to open libraries in each locality. So, to motivate the people to start reading various books every year, we organise this fair and it is 5thyear after Telangana formation.We have plans to organise a free personality development test and timing for tests 2 pm to 5 pm.

As last year the footfall was around 10 lakh book enthusiasts visited the fair and this year we are expecting the same crowd. This year the organizers of Book Fair is going set up various cultural program includes singing, dancing competition, magic show and many more.

We have invited Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and he assured us he would visit the fair. This 10 days fair would conclude on January 1, 2019." There would be various collections of books which include non-fiction, fiction, religious, crime, children's books in the stalls.

"This psychometric test is only to motivate and boost their confidence level. A questioner would be provided to them and test would commence for 10-15 and the result would be given after the fair," said Priyanka, founder of Brain –O-Script.

  1. Timings of fair: 2.30 pm to 8.30 pm on Mon-Friday;12 noon to 9 pmon Saturday and Sunday
  2. It would commence from December 23 and will draw to a close on January 1, 2019
  3. 330 stalls would set up; Entry fee Rs 10 only for adults; and for children it is free
