Humanity helps girl pursue higher studies

Chilkur: A Christian girl received financial aid for education from a Muslim charity on request of a Hindu chief priest of Chilkur Balaji temple on Friday.

Lucas, the father who worked with Mother Theresa congregation for leprosy was struggling to pay his daughter's graduation fees which is approximately 95,000 rupees.

Lucas approached Rangarajan, priest of Balaji temple, for help. Mazharuddin Hussain was incidentally in Hyderabad for organising educational scholarships for the underprivileged. On a request from the priest, Hussain agreed instantly, and a cheque was issued to Lucas for his daughter's college fees.

"Humanity is the only religion for us to safeguard," said C S Rangarajan, Chief Priest, Chilkur Balaji temple. In a day and age when religious, caste, faith and intolerance are increasing, such acts of humanity are surely inspiring and refreshing to the mind and the soul.
