Haritha Haram launched at Chanchalguda prison
Chanchalguda: As part of the Haritha Haram programme, Director-General of Prisons and Correctional Services Sandeep Shandilya inaugurated the programme on Wednesday. He planted teak, rose and ornamental plants on the premises of central prison. He was accompanied by B Saidaiah, Inspector-General of Prisons.
According to officials, as part of this initiative, 600 saplings of different varieties will be planted during this week for the overall forestation and raising greenery in the premises. Sandeep Shandilya said that the programme to increase the green cover across the State remains an admirable initiative, which asks every individual to take part in this act of social responsibility.
"Plantation of saplings helps in maintaining the ecological balance apart from beautifying the premises and this institution will take up necessary measures to enhance the green belt by planting several varieties of plants in the premises of Central Prison and shall maintain effectively," he said.
Superintendent D Srinivas, Deputy Superintendents S Srinivas Reddy and M Sampath, Jailors V Shashikanth, K Sriman Reddy, Y Ramaiah, Danunjay, S Vijaykumar and other officers were present.
