Girijan Shakti demands 10% quota to tribals
Bagh Lingampally: The founder president of Girijan Shakti, Venkatesh Chavan, warned the state government of agitation if it failed to fulfil its promise of implementing 10 per cent reservations to tribals. He was speaking at the first convention of Girijan Shakti held at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram on Sunday.
Speaking at the meeting, Venkatesh Chavan said that a special bus tour covering all the tribal inhabitations in the state would be organised to unite tribals to achieve their rights.
The association would organise 'Chalo Delhi' programme on December 13, he said. Explaining the key role played by tribal youth during Telangana agitation, he said the sacrifices made by tribal youth went waste as the state government failed to fulfil their aspirations and hopes after the formation of the state.
Criticising RSS head Mohan Bhagwat for calling for a discussion on reservations, he said that Bhagwat with his RSS Brahmanic ideology has not right to speak on reservations.
He said that their association would unite SCs, STs, BCs and tribal people and organize program at New Delhi demanding preservation of their rights. Among those who participated in the meeting were Prof Surya Dhanunjay, Redya Naik, Konda Nageshwar, Dr Keshav, Professor Raju Quadri, state president of KVPS Skylab Babu, Hari Naik, Sharath and others.
