GHMC takes stock of illegal structures at Salarjung Bridge
Darussalam: As part of Musi River Front Development Project, several encroachment structures under the Salarjung (Sivaji) Bridge were marked for removal by the GHMC officials and other departments who made a visit to the site on Tuesday.
The officials led by B Srinivas Reddy, Zonal Commissioner, South (GHMC) visited the place, along with officials of Musi River Front Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL), GHMC and police officials. This is the first official visit by the Zonal Commissioner in this endeavour at the location, following a 3-day visit for studying Riverfront developments in Gujarat and West Bengal in April.
It may be mentioned here that the delegation of officials, led by K Ashok Reddy, managing director at MRDCL and other eight officials, recently visited Riverfront developments of Sabarmathi in Ahmedabad.
Later, they also visited Hoogly Riverfront site in West Bengal, as part of studying the developmental activities initiated by the two states for rejuvenation and beautification of the two rivers. With the coordination of all the three departments MRDCL, GHMC and HMWSSB, it is expected that Musi will be transformed on the similar lines in the near future.
The other higher officials who were part of the study visit were Sathyaranarayana, Executive Director, HMWSSB, B L N Reddy, Chief Engineer, MRDCL (Incharge), Suresh Kumar, Chief Engineer, GHMC, M L Prasanna Kumar, CGM, HMWSSB, Shankaraiah, Zonal Commissioner, Kukatpally, GHMC, Vandana Vishnu, Architecture and Malathi, Deputy Collector, MRDCL, besides B Srinivas Reddy, Zonal Commissioner, South (GHMC). The State government has accorded permission for a study tour of riverfronts and to initiate and implement similar technology for Musi River.
