Rajendranagar: Following a High Court directive to conduct fresh survey after the officials razed structures within full tank level (FTL) of Mir Alam Tank, the officials of revenue, GHMC and irrigation departments on Wednesday took up the survey of FTL and buffer zone of the water body.

There were no untoward incidents or protests from owners of structures and houses in the previously designated FTL area, as adequate police force was deployed on the ground.

The officials along with MRO Ramlu reached the tank at about 9:30 am with yellow and red ribbons to mark the boundaries. Red flags were used to identify the area of FTL while the yellow flags marked the buffer zone.

The rain played hide and seek with the officials and forced them to confine to a single task for the whole day keeping all the other scheduled works pending for another day.

The officials carrying supporting documents and relevant maps marked the boundaries at every few meters of distance. All this was done in the presence of the affected parties while police personnel were seen guarding the place for the whole day.

According to officials, several hundred houses besides commercial shades are standing within the FTL and even between FTL and the buffer zone. They are sure that they have carried out the demolition according to the official records and are even confident of facing any challenge in the court of law.

The affected parties at one point argued with the MRO of Rajendranagar and tried to make out a case that they had been living in the area for several years and saw no surge in the water body. The MRO firmly turned down their offer to show their documents, asserting that they would only go by the records available with them.

MRO S Ramlu, Revenue Inspector Md Nizamuddin, Superintending Engineer (Irrigation) Bheem Prasad, Executive Engineer Qursheed, Deputy Executive Engineer Narender, Assistant Engineer Irrigation Rama Rao, Assistant Executive Engineer Vishwam, Section Officer GHMC Town planning Rajendranagar Santosh Singh and other officials were present at the time of survey. Law and order situation was maintained under the supervision of police officers M Shiva Krishna, V Kachiram, D D Prasad and K Lakshman.
