Free feed distribution for shepherds launched

Sangareddy: Free feed distribution to all the shepherds under Sheep Rearing Development Programme was launched from Tuesday in Telangana State.

The inauguration of the programme was held at Cherlagudem village of the Kandi Mandal by Sandeep Kumar Sultania, secretary at AHDD&F Department and Director of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Department. Under the scheme, each shepherd will be distributed about 200 kg of concentrate feed per sheep unit for free of cost.

Sandeep Kumar Sultania, in his address, told the shepherds about the importance of the concentrate feed, raising different varieties of green fodders and conservation of fodders by chaffing them with chaff cutters.

The sheep should be protected during the summer by taking them to grazing every morning and evening and by providing ad libitum water, he said. Free vaccination is scheduled to be followed. Free medical kit, worth of Rs 415, will be supplied to all the beneficiaries' under the scheme.

Dr. V Laxma Reddy, managing director at Telangana State Sheep & Goat Federation Limited, Dr. Krishna Mohan, joint director at Veterinary Biological and Research Institute (VBRI), Dr Rama Rao Rathod, joint director, Sangareddy, and the animal husbandry staff participated in the programme.
