E-rickshaw that can reduce pollution
Hyderabad: E-rickshaws are becoming popular across the country and have the potential to minimize cost as well as help reduce pollution levels. One such startup, Bahuguna Techmotives Private Limited established in 2017 has come up with a few models of e-rickshaw.
Sanjay Bahuguna, founder, Bahuguna Techmotives Private Limited says, "Due to the existing rules, the vehicle cannot be sold in GHMC limits, but we have been able to sell more than 120 vehicles in Telangana."
According to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) rules, a vehicle of 25km/h speed would cause traffic jams and vehicles of minimum 45km/h speed would suit the roads, which is why it has not been approved in the city. The e-vehicle runs at 25km/h with 400 kg load.
The company officials say that the range of products includes e-rickshaws, e-loaders and customized three-wheelers. The company has a plant in Haryana and has plans of setting up another in Telangana.
Speaking on competition, company officials say that cheap products sourced and assembled from China is a problem. Unlike many other states in the north, Telangana government is yet to come up with favoring policies for e-Rickshaws. The company says that the government should promote these products under employment generation schemes as it can be a very effective tool for the below poverty line. The manufacturing plant is located at Haryana but according to the company, they can come up with a plant in the state with government assistance.
The e-rickshaw costs Rs 1.25 lakh. The company believes that their products can be of great use in any field of work, ranging from services, schools, and small business to government use.
The company officials feel that one of the reasons for not getting approval is the strong Auto-cartel in the city
Government, small and large business houses are the target customers for these products. It's a good option for those individuals who want to start their own business. The company believes that their products can be of great use in any field of work, ranging from services, schools, and small business to government use.
Sanjay Bahuguna says, "The idea to come up with an eco-friendly vehicle too was to mitigate climate change issues and play a part in it. We firmly believe that the e-vehicle could make a huge impact in the lives of people."
