Do not tarnish image of Nizam VII: Grandson Najaf Ali Khan

Hyderabad: "Who are these politicians who seek to malign my grandfather's name and belittle his immense contributions? They are maligning the name of the man who served this country and his kingdom for 37 years irrespective of caste and religion. He has done innumerable service for which he is remembered by people," says Najaf Ali Khan, grandson of Seventh Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan on Tuesday.

Liberation means, the action of setting someone free from imprisonment, slavery or oppression. I would like to ask the so-called celebrators of liberation that if his reign was a time of such tyranny, then why even after the accession of Hyderabad to India was he made the Rajpramukh? Najaf Ali Khan questioned.

If those were such despotic times, then why wasn't there any death penalty awarded in his rule? Why did a huge sea of over 1 million people attend his funeral and why the government declared it a state holiday? He asked.

The man who lived for his masses, treated each subject without the prejudice of caste or creed and even donated 5,000 kg gold for the country, when it was on the verge of war, a donation unmatched in the history of the country, is being tainted for hateful political agendas that distort the truth for their own convenience, Najaf Ali Khan said.

To know the truth of the events of September 17, the report by Pandit Sundarlal Committee must be declassified and should be made available to public, the grandson of the seventh Nizam added.
