Curb misuse of SC/ST Act, says Dalit Rights Struggle Committee chief

Narayanaguda: Dalit Rights Struggle Committee (DRSC) State president Renukuntla Yellayya on Thursday demanded steps against those threatening BCs, OCs, OBCs and EBCs taking advantage of the SC, ST (Atrocities) Prevention Act and render justice to the victims.

Addressing the media along with a victim Ryla Krishna Yadav, Yellayya said that he was not given possession of the land but was being threatened following an agreement between Yadav and Mamilla Ramesh pertaining to one acre in Karmikanagar in Medchal district. He sought action against Ramesh.

In another case, the Dalit leader said that one Venkatesh, appointed as watchman by an ex-serviceman of Jawaharnagar N Srinivas Reddy,was claiming ownership of the house and resorting to the use of force. When repeatedly told to vacate the house, Venkatesh had got a case registered under the SC, ST Act and was issuing threats.

Yellayya accused the police of supporting Venkatesh and appealed to the State government to render justice to Srinivas Reddy.
