Clean-up drive by NGO, school kids at Shaikpet

Shaikpet: To mark the completion of three months of the clean-up drive and bring wider community participation as well as involvement of the GHMC, Kriti Social Initiatives, Ananda Foundation and Udayan Care organised a run on Sunday in association with the Hyderabad Runners Society.

Around 120 runners participated, along with volunteers from the three NGOs and students from two schools – SLN School and Jiya Techno School – in the event. The run was followed by a clean-up of the area around Kothacheruvu in Shaikpet, during which all the participants picked up non-biodegradable waste in the area abutting the lake.

Everyone worked together for a couple of hours picking up over 500 kg of non-biodegradable garbage. The programme is part of a year-long lake clean-up drive taken up by them at the Kothacheruvu Lake and Sunday marked 13 weeks of the initiative.
