Central Wakf Council blames TRS & MIM over shrinking Wakf lands
Nampally: Central Wakf Council (CWC) on Wednesday blamed the ruling TRS government and its ally MIM for shrinking Wakf lands in the State. They warned of employing all the provisions under Central Wakf Act, as senior officials in the government despite reminders have failed to respond to their official communication, seeking explanation on this matter.
A day after their visit to the TS Wakf Board office, the members CWC, including TO Naushad, Haneef Ali, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi and S Munawari Begum held a press conference at BJP state office. They alleged that on earlier occasions following the visit of CWC the State government had failed respond to their letters seeking explanation on various issues including locking down of the 'record room' of Wakf and denying access even to Board's officials. "We shall be initiating legal proceedings under the provisions of the Central Wakf Act, as the State government and its officials have failed to respond," they said.
While blaming the MIM chief, Asaduddin Owaisi of being complicit, Naushad held that with the 'silent permission' from MIM leadership, the land grabbing was going on in the City. "My sincere request to the Chief of MIM who claims to be representing Muslims to first answer to the grievances of City's Muslims and thereafter he can focus on entire India. He is keeping silence (on wakf encroachment), while capturing votes in the name of Islam," he said.
The Council members who visited the Trimulgherry area demanded explanation from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) over the encroachment of vast swathes of land attached to Koh-e-Imam Zamin during the past 10 years. They blamed former MLC, Syed Altaf Hyder Razwi for encroachment of several acres of land, which was handed over to a construction company.
It may be mentioned here almost a year ago, a CWC delegation arm-twisted the TSWB on mega scam of Dargah Hussain Shah Wali and other issues including misuse of office, findings, mismanagement, criminality and allegation of corruption in Board under Telangana government, which was to no avail.
