Bonalu has special place in Telangana culture: KP Vivekanand
Qutbullapur: KP Vivekanand, the Qutbullapur MLA, said that the Bonalu festival has a special place in Telangana culture and is hence celebrated with pomp and gaiety every year in the state.
He was speaking at Bonalu celebrations being held at Mahankali temple, Shambipur village on Sunday. He and MLC Shambipur Raju attended were the chief guests. They offered special prayers to Mahankali on the occasion.
Vivekanand said that Telangana people celebrate Bonalu with religious fervour every year and has special place in Telangana culture. Devotees, especially women, celebrate the festival with devotion, he said. Considering the importance of the festival, the state government has been providing financial assistance for conducting the celebrations to temples in the state, the MLA said.
He hoped that the state would be blessed with copious rains and wealth in the state with the grace of the deity. He wished the people of the state live with peace and happiness. Among those present on the occasion were TRS leaders Shambipur Krishna, Jeethaiah, Sathaiah, Yadagiri, Venkatesh, Pentaiah and others.
