Artists stage dharna, demand recruitments

Saifabad: Telangana artists staged protest in front of Telangana state culture office, demanding recruitments at the department of culture here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Telangana Unemployed Artists Federation president Thipparthi Srinivas expressed his anguish at the state government indifference towards artists, who played a key role in Telangana agitation by creating awareness among people on the injustice done to the region.

Despite High court's ruling to issue notification for recruitment in the culture department nine months ago, the state government had not initiated any measure in this direction so far, he lamented.

Telangana Culture Department should be held responsible for violating the court ruling, he said. He appealed to the state government to adopt a sympathetic approach towards artists, considering their important role in the Telangana agitation, and provide employment to poor unemployed artists.

Among those who participated in the protest include Madhukar, Ravi, Arjun, Ramesh, Babu, Srinivas and others.
