A thrilling feel of heritage rocks

Hyderabad: Young kids, rock-lovers, adventure buffs and nature enthusiasts from across the city had an exhilarating experience while trekking on the rocky landscape of Fakhruddingutta near Gachibowli as part of the eighth edition of 'Hyderabad Rockathon - 2019' on Sunday.

It was jointly organised by the Society to Save Rocks and the Great Hyderabad Adventure Club and sponsored by two private organisations- Biological E Private Ltd and Quantor. The event witnessed over 250 city folk to create awareness among the citizens on saving theheritage rocks of Hyderabad. Over 2,500 million years old Deccan rocks, nowadays, are being razed blatantly by the construction industry.

Participants, especially small kids, were seen indulging in various rock-related sports such as bouldering, slack lining, trail biking, rock balancing, zip-lining and rappelling. Fun activities such as quiz competition, rock shot puts and a treasure hunt were conducted.

SAVE THE HERITAGE

Fakhruddingutta is a home to the 700-year-old Dargah of Hazrat Baba Fakhruddin Aulia. It also has an ancient AnanthaPadmanabha Swamy Shrine and the internationally known AvataarMeher Baba Cave.
