Later most of them were also geo-tagged to TSCOP app for ensuring their well-being and assist them in case of any emergency.

The health issues were addressed by Tata Trust and the police officials assured to provide legal support, if any. "It is a continuous programme and the patrolling officers will be visiting the elderly regularly and shall geo-tag them. They will address their problems from time to time and help solve their problems as per the standard operating procedure directed by the superior officers," said police officials.

Inspector G Nagaraju, Sub-Inspectors and patrolling staff visited different localities, and upon enquiry, found that the senior citizens were facing common problems like delayed pensions and were unable to get Aadhaar cards and the children objecting to their presence after some time and asking them to spend time at the houses of other children.

Under Chaderghat police station limits, the police in coordination with the NGO Tata trust reached out to old aged persons after identifying them and also geo-tagged them to the TSCOP app. Commissioner, Anjani Kumar launched the senior citizens module in TSCOP app on Tuesday. The app has been facilitating easy access to critical information 'Anytime, Anywhere' to the police officers in the State through their smartphones and tablets, especially while performing field duties.

According to police officials, this would help address the problems of elderly and would also bring about awareness amongst the people about the rights of the Senior Citizens Act. This will also help extend help to the need to avail of various government welfare programmes. Besides this, those who are neglected by their children would be helped by the cops who would summon thier children and counsel them.
