6 city students for international karate tournament
Barkathpura: Six students of GVR Karate Academy will participate in an international Karate competition organised by Gujoryu International from May 1 to 9 in Malaysia.
Narsing Rao from veteran category, Praneeth Reddy from 14-year boys' category, Aman Preetham from 11-year boys' category, Ujwal from 9-year boys' category and Amritha from 14-year girls' category will participate in the competition, the director of GVR Karate Academy said.
The students were felicitated in a programme attended by Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, TRS party general secretary Bandi Ramesh, Devireddy Vijitha Reddy, Kamalakar Reddy, Yousuf, Srinivas, Om Prakash and others.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that Telangana government has been giving utmost priority to sports. Congratulating the students, he said that it is a matter of pride for the state government that the students of GVR Academy are participating in international competitions.
He wished them all the best and hoped that they would excel in the competition. On the occasion, black belts of the academy Karim and Viplav handed over a financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to Narsing Rao, who is participating in veteran category at the competition. Director of the academy said that Professor Uma Maheshwar is appointed as the team manager and GS Gopal Reddy as the team coach.
