Musheerabad: BC student association demanded 100 per cent fee reimbursement for BC/EBC students. The state body meeting BC students' association was held here at BC Bhavan on Sunday.

The meeting, presided by Jillapalli Anji, was attended by 33 district units of the association, along with members of state body and discussed issues of BC students and future action plan.

Speaking on the occasion, R Krishnaiah, who attended the meeting as chief guest, said that the state government has increased the engineering college fees and demanded the state government to provide 100 per cent fee reimbursement to BC students. While the CM of the neighbouring state has declared full reimbursement of fees for SCs, STs, BCs, minorities and EBCs, the Telangana government, which is in better position financially, has not given full fee reimbursement, he said.

Krishnaiah said that the full fee reimbursement may incur a cost of Rs 120 crore but would provide immense benefit to poor students who desire to pursue higher education. Rather than providing buffaloes, sheep and pigs, providing education opportunities to poor and downtrodden people would help poor families forever, he said.

Commenting on the TRS government's proposal to build new secretariat and assembly, he said that there is no need to build new buildings as most of the buildings in secretariat were built in the recent years. He suggested the government to spend the same money for the welfare of the downtrodden people instead.

Among those who were present on the occasion include BC leaders Gujja Krishna, Venkatesh, T Nanda Gopal, Krishna Yadav, Narsimha Goud, Ramakrishna and others.
