Bengaluru: Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Vindhya finally made the breakthrough at the South End of Shivajinagar metro station on Wednesday.

Last month, on September 22, TBM Urja had made a breakthrough at the North end of the Shivajinagar metro station.

The tunnelling is part of the 13.76 km underground section connecting Gottigere in the south with Nagawara in the north. This was being parallelly tunnelled with TBM Urja to create the tunnel connecting Cantonment and Shivajinagar metro station.

With this breakthrough, TBM Vindhya has completed 855 metres of tunnelling in total. Further, the TBM will be dismantled and transported to Cantonment station where it will start tunnelling work between Cantonment and Pottery Town Station.
