AAP rode well on local and civic matters

The write-up "Decoding Delhi election verdict" by Karuna Gopal (12 Feb) is lucid and realistic. Nobody can gauge the undercurrent of the voters' mood, not even the psephologists.

The average prediction that the BJP could win 17 seats has been shattered to smithereens with its actually win of less than half of it. It's certainly a highly polarised and emotionally pitched campaign where all the non-NDA parties have vengefully arraigned against the BJP.

AAP's welfare measures coupled with its cunning left-liberal cudgels against the BJP has given it a roller-coaster ride where the Muslims voted almost in full and en bloc.

All said and done, Delhi is a huge municipality where local and civic matters (should) have a predominant say and sway. And if AAP focuses only on civic issues and doesn't unduly oppose the central government at the drop of a hat – a la Naveen Patnaik, the CM of Orissa – without hastily misinterpreting the verdict as an unqualified opposition to the central government policies, it would be ideal.

Hope that AAP wouldn't get megalomaniac wised up to its humiliating rout all over elsewhere in the country. Anyway, BJP has also to learn a lot from this Delhi debacle, though it's almost a foregone conclusion, as of now, that it would romp home in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as well.

Can Kejriwal walk the talk?

The impressive victory of Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly elections, paving the way for a hat trick come back, making him eligible to become chief minister for a third successive term.

It is quite evident the AAP is following a poll strategy, extensively copied from its Tamilnadu political counterparts, by way of freebies and sops to the electorate, which is working unerringly in AAPs favour.

The free water, electricity and ride for women in the government buses have done the trick. Who will be able to refuse and resist these temptations?

Jagan needs Delhi's blessings

Fortune favours the brave, as the proverb goes. If you boldly carryout your pro-people " 3Capital -decentralisation strategy", to usher in a new era ,of all round development of the state, sans regional imbalances, -the big brother Modi's government also will favour AP.

This seems to be the main "Theme" of the mission New Delhi of the young CM (CM to appraise PM of capital decision, Feb 12). In this regard, it is pertinent to mention that the 3C - decentralisation decision has the blessings of entire five crore Telugu people of AP, barring a microscopic minority of misguided people.

Hence the honourable PM ,has to consider the" will of the people of AP, "with a big heart and love.

As the GOI, is well aware, the AP state has failed to march ahead in the last five years. However, the people of the state ,have very high expectations today on the both the progressive CM and the powerful PM .

In the final analysis, we the people humbly request the PM to bless the 3C plan & grant Special category status to the AP for speedy development of the state.
