Let kids pursue their dreams
The perspective that arts and sports won't get you anywhere in life is a detrimental thought for the future. Children are forced to take up science or commerce because according to parents, to be successful you need to become a doctor, an engineer or a chartered accountant.
We must leave this stereotypical thinking behind. Sydney Gurewitz said " Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like anyone". It should be in the hands of an individual to what to become in life. Parents can guide them and give opinion, but at the end of the day it should be their decision.
We often come across prejudice because one is in science field, he/ she must be intelligent and people studying arts tends to look foolish to them. Young adults are capable of taking the initiative of their life. it is about a passion to do something. One has to fight for what they want. Forcing children to do something they are not interested in will only leave them hanging aimlessly. Do support your children and their dreams.
