Cast your vote to strengthen democracy

Update: 2019-05-08 01:03 IST

India is the largest democratic country in the world. India has the largest democratic election system in every five years as per the Constitution.

India is a developing country. It has the second largest population in the world. Indians are among the highest in education as well as in communication facilities, but most of the people are yet to participate in the election process actively.

Elections are being held in the country in different phases and now five phases have been completed, but voter turnout has not crossed 70 percent during these five phases.

Though some States saw voter turnout of around 80 percent, some others reached only 55 percent. It shows very less percentage of voter turnout.

This is not good for a healthy competitive democracy. India's commercial capital Maharashtra saw poor voter turnout. In India's biggest States like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, voter turnout did not happen up to the mark.

Indian election system is different from other countries in view of the democratic values and democratic method. Indian election system has a prominent role in the formation of government.

But most of the Indian electors are not participating in the system to elect a stable and strong government. In order to elect a stable government, people need to participate more and more in the election process.

Then ultimately democratic values will increase and strengthen the democratic system. Though India is developing radically, most of the educated persons do not show interest in participating in the election system enthusiastically.

This is not good sign for the democratic system like India. So, all people in the country must involve in the election process and strengthen Indian democracy.
