Hyderabad: Polling for 17 Lok Sabha Constituencies in Telangana began, voters , especially senior citizens were seen queuing up in lines to exercise there franchise.
The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for the peaceful and smooth conduct of the elections.Polling will also be held for the by-election of the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly constituency in Hyderabad.
A total of 3,17,17,389 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise across the state. They comprise 1,58,71,493 men, 1,58,43,339 women and 2,557 third gender.
As per the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj, 20,163 voters have already availed the facility of home voting. More than 1.88 lakh employees on poll duty have used postal ballot voting.

Female voters outnumber in Telangana (latest figures)
With 1.67 crore female voters, out of a total of 3.32 crore, the number of women with eligibility of voting in Telangana outnumber. The male voters stand at 1.65 crore.
According to latest information released on Sunday, the Malkajgiri which has Assembly constituencies including Medchal, Malkajgiri, Quthbullapur, Kukatpally, Uppal, LB Nagar and Secunderabad Cantonment has maximum number of voters totalling 37.8 lakh. Mahbubabad has just over 15 lakh voters, making it the smallest constituency in terms of voters amongst all the 17 constituencies.
Citizens can now vote without voter IDs, with ECI approved 13 documents
Citizens can now cast their vote in the Lok Sabha elections which is to be held on Monday even if they do not have voter identification cards, as the Election Commission of India approved 13 documents by which the electors can cast their vote, informed Hyderabad District Election Officer Ronald Rose.
DEO, Ronald Rose, said, “It is not enough to show the voter slips distributed at the polling centre to verify their identity before voting, the voter must show their voter ID card or if they do not have one, they must show any of the 13 alternative photo identification cards at the polling centres to verify their identity.” Read More
