A Royal Feast From Land Of Kings Celebrated in "City Of Temples" Kathmandu - Marriott
It sits in the lap of nature and boasts an infinity pool that rolls into a gorgeous view
As the city with the country's only International Airport, Kathmandu is often considered just a stopover for those looking to trek through the mountains to its north or looking to explore the nature reserves to the south, close to the border with India. But it has so much to offer. And now the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, the city's biggest new hotel opening, offers A comfortable base from which to discover this ancient capital.
Located just 15 minutes from Tribhuvan International Airport, the 10-storey property features 214-guest rooms with all the mod-cons you would expect of a business hotel. All rooms come equipped with electronic blinds instead of traditional curtains, suites feature Nespresso machines and the hotel's fleet of cars are hybrids. On the 10 th floor is the 1,800sq ft presidential suite as well as the M Club, the lounge for Marriott's Bonvoy membership rewards program. Guests staying in the hotel's two club floors also have access to the lounge. With over 740 sqm of banquet space, the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel has one of the largest meeting spaces in the city with the latest technology for seamless conferencing and meetings. Furthermore, the M Club boasts panoramic views of the majestic Himalayan Mountains, making it an ideal venue to enjoy breakfast and refreshments 24-hours a day.
The décor is tasteful with local cues everywhere – a thangka painting in the lobby, antique decorations in the lobby area and water-color painting with local motifs on every floor. Taking cues from traditional architecture, the hotel has an indoor courtyard with water features. This is a great place to relax after a day of exploring.
In terms of F&B guests can expect everything from deliciously flaky croissants to plump momos at the all-day dining restaurant, Thamel Kitchen. But the dishes to try are the thali-style meals that showcase the cuisine of the various local communities. At Edamame, the pan-Asian restaurant, guests can watch chefs whipping up delicious yakitori, sushi and Thai dishes at the live stations. You can also enjoy some live music, with a tasty Negroni in hand at Raksi Music Bar is offering handcrafted cocktails with local ingredients and will host live jazz music sessions. For fresh and flavorful bites in the morning or a coffee break in the afternoons, there will also be KBC – Kathmandu Baking Kitchen, an in-house patisserie serving delectable sweets and baked goods paired with freshly made espresso and coffee-based drinks. In the warmer months, you can do exactly this but while sitting in the bar's outdoor area, under the starry Kathmandu sky.

The Royals Flavours of Rajasthan are Celebrated in The city of Temples Kathmandu Marriott Hotel
Kathmandu Marriott brings traditional Rajasthani rich flavors to the city of Temples with a Mewar and Marwar themed food festival which will go on till the 28th of July
Few royal secrets are as closely held – and as desperately sought – like the recipes from the kitchens that serve kings and queens.
Mewar's royal cuisine is usually simple, rustic yet tasteful and mostly depends on the season's fresh vegetables, fruits, and meats. Shikaar Maas ka Soola, Ker Sanger Wadi, Sekma, Kokada Soweta Degchi Maas, Khada Desi Palak, Panchkuta, Kaleji ka Raita, Sekma Baati and Mawa Kachori are some royal delicacies Handcrafted by a culinary maestro from Rajasthan.
In the royal kitchen, the cooking techniques used initially became redundant too. Coal has been used as a fuel and the flavors have been improved, giving the dishes a distinctive flavor and aroma.
The desserts in Mewar are dominated by dry fruits and milk. Khoya, pistachio, almond, saffron cardamom, honey are filled in a pastry of wheat flour to make the delicious kachori mawa. Locals believe that the legendary Paniya churio, made of crushed maize bread, jaggery and hot clarified butter is a great digestive.
Copious quantities of ghee and dry fruits have been added to add the royal touch. Culinary attempts to reproduce, as far as possible, traditional cooking techniques and Rajasthan Rasodas ingredients.
There is a lavish spread of vegetarian options to choose from; Gatte ka saag, Sangri paneer, Aloo papad achari, mangodi ki kebab, to name a few. An option from the veggie main course and a perfect blend of four different lentils Char dal khimsar is a must-have.
With minimal garnishing and giving off an aura of simplicity, Malai ghevar and Moong dal halwa mark the perfect finish to this royal feast. On-going till July 28, this festival is an extension of the usual dinner buffet, meaning that the guest will have access to Rajasthani cuisine along with the regular buffet, both at the same price. There are also live counters serving hot sizzling kebabs. Along with the scrumptious food, you can also enjoy tunes of Rajasthani folk music. The food and the ambiance together recreate a version of Rajasthan right here in our country.
