The University of Hyderabad scholar offered a graduate position in Israel

Hyderabad: Sameernandan Upadhyayula, a final year Integrated M.Sc. student at the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad, has been offered a fully funded graduate position at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel.

Weizmann Institute of Science is one of the premier institutes for research in natural sciences and is ranked 104 in the world, according to US News Best Global Universities rankings. Sameer will be working under Prof. Eli Pollak (Department of Chemical and Biological Physics) for his doctoral degree and he will be working in the area of quantum dynamics. His PhD thesis will be broadly based on "Path integral and semi-classical approaches to gaseous and condensed phase reactions".

At the University of Hyderabad, Sameer has been working with Prof. M Durga Prasad in the area of theoretical physical chemistry for the last 4 years. Currently he is doing his M.Sc. project under him in the area of theoretical spectroscopy. His M.Sc. project thesis is titled "Computation of time and frequency resolved spectra at finite temperature for pump-probe spectroscopy".

In the past, Sameer has interned at JNCASR Bengaluru in the area of Mathematical Physics in 2017, at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, in the area of many-body theories in 2018 and at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai in 2019 under their VSRP programme.
