Medical students must be ready for CBME: GITAM

Visakhapatnam: Medical education in the country now at crossroads particularly every medical student must prepare to face Competency-based medical education (CBME) in coming years, said by Andhra Medical College (AMC) Principal Prof.PVSudhakar here on Thursday at GITAM Dental College & Hospital during college day celebrations.

While addressing the students he said that medical students must understand the changes which are related to their profession to face the challenges. He informed that Andhra Medical College is developing a skill development lab for medical community in addition to regional training center and ready to extend the support to GITAM in coming years.

GITAM President M. Sribharath said that academics and co curricular activities are equally important for a student overall growth and development particularly to learn the essentials for team work and healthy competition. He observed that the medical professionalism is a set of values, behaviours, and relationships that underpin the trust the public has in doctors.

He mentioned that being overly reliant on phone communication lose their sensitive radar for the complex and mixed emotions people may experience at one time and also losing the art of interpersonal interaction.
