Hyderabad: Joy of Giving programme at DPS, Nacharam
Hyderabad: To inculcate a spirit of giving and sharing and to make the children aware about the less fortunate in the society, a mass charity programme was organised on Saturday where all the students from Classes V to XII participated by proving true to its motto "Service before Self".
This event was the initiative of the Social Studies department under the guidance of Principal S. Sunitha Rao. The chief guest Benjamin Levelius, Vice Consul, Consulate General of the United States of America, Guest of Honour Amrita Shrivastava, Sr. Manager CSR & Sustainability Coromandel International Ltd, Sony Abhraham from UNICEF, Mallik – Rotarian. Uma from Robinhood Army, Malka Komaraiah Chairman, Pallavi Director, participated in the Joy of Giving Programme.
Malka Komaraiah, Chairman of DPS Nacharam, Mahendra Hills and Nadergul, reiterated the importance of developing a culture of giving & service oriented mind-set in the youth of today. The young dipsites of the DPS Chargers club spent some quality time with the children, providing them with the much needed feeling of togetherness and bonding of a family.
The students collected 1050 - steel tiffin boxes, 980 - steel water bottles, 3824 -stationary items, 2029- exam pad & compass boxes, 4850 - notebooks, 2635 -hand towels (big), 685 -Hawaii slippers, 894 -single bed sheet with pillow cover, 1148 –shawls, 2200 –blankets,574 -school bags, 350 kgs –sugar,948 kgs -rice, 340 kgs - dal. The above collected items were distributed to 11 NGOs and government schools.
