Hyderabad: Fitness activities at The Play School
Hyderabad: The students of The Play School, the exclusive wing of Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, had a week-long fitness activities from November 18-23 on par with the high school students. The students enthusiastically participated in the "Fitness Week" celebration. It was a five-day programme in The Play School. One might wonder why all this for the children of 3+ or 4+ ?
The school being affiliated to the CBSE, the teachers of "The Play School" felt the need, the children of this age group must also witness, practically do for fitness of mind and body. On the first day, students performed a few simple asanas to help improve their focus and concentration. The second day was the freehand exercises for the students, followed by Zumba and Aerobics on the following consecutive days. Children also took part in the poster making competition, wherein they drew pictures related to sports with the theme, "The Play School, The Fit School".
To be fit, it's not only important to exercise daily, but also to take healthy food. So the children had a "Healthy Nutritious Feast" organised in the school to make them understand the importance of eating healthy food. A proteinaceous dish using varieties of pulses was prepared by the teachers and was relished by the students on the concluding day. Fitness both mentally and physically is important for a healthy living and this is what the students learnt throughout the week, pledging to continue with these practices not only for the stipulated week but to include them into their daily routine to keep themselves fit and healthy.
