Chennai: Admissions for undergraduate courses underway at Krea University
Chennai: The School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) at Krea University has commenced admissions for its B.A. (Hons.) and B.Sc. (Hons.) undergraduate degree programme for the class of 2020-23. SIAS' rigorous, merit-driven and holistic two-stage admissions process aims to understand every aspect of the applicant's profile. It goes beyond their scholastic abilities to look for fundamental qualities that form the basis of education outcomes for the University. A financial-assistance programme is also in place to support high potential applicants from challenging socio-economic backgrounds.
Krea University offers 3-year B.A. (Honours) & B.Sc. (Honours) degrees, with an option to do an additional year i.e. fourth year of Advanced Studies. The first-year curriculum, built on Krea's unique interwoven learning model, will help students identify the major that excites them and best suits their career and life interests. Students can choose a major in their second year after they complete eleven Core and Skills course requirements in their first year at Krea. The School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences at Krea University offers majors in thirteen disciplines, and fourteen minors, all housed in the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, Division of Literature and Arts, and Division of Sciences respectively.
Prof. Bishnu Mohapatra, Dean, (SIAS) said "At Krea University, we offer a distinctive undergraduate curriculum in the humanities, social sciences, literature, arts, and sciences, taught by distinguished faculty from the world's finest academic institutions. We understand that true academic merit and potential may not always be exhibited by exam scores alone. Hence, we do not have a singular focus on academic scores, rather we hope to gauge academic merit and potential through various aspects of our selection process".
"We assess the student based on open-mindedness, curiosity, empathy, teamwork, creativity and self-awareness and have designed our admissions process to ensure that an applicant gets ample opportunities to display these qualities. To ensure that a deserving candidate is not deprived of their educational aspirations at the University, we endeavour to support the financial need of worthy students" he added.
Admission Process
The two-stage admission process consists of submitting the Online Application Form (https://krea.edu.in/sias/admission.html) followed by the Krea Immersive Case (KIC) for students who have been shortlisted. The purpose of the Krea Immersive Case is to assess those qualities in an applicant that shine through in an interactive, hands-on and real-world setting. The case experience also provides applicants with a snapshot of Krea's Interwoven Learning approach in-action.
