Sye Raa's stylist explains the hardships of designing costumes
As Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is a period flick, a new world has to be set up to meet the demands of the storyline. Right from costumes to the sets, everything should replicate the age of 1800s. Discussing the hardships of making Syeraa, the film's stylist Uttara Menon said that it is her best work till date.
Uttara is the sister of renowned filmmaker Gautham Menon and she got her breakthrough with the latter's Yennai Arindaal. Later, Uttara worked in various films like Manam, Shailaja Reddy Alludu and Syeraa. For Syeraa, she went to various museums, old temples and referred historical texts to get an idea about the attire of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.
She worked with art director Rajeevan and concept artist to create a template attire for the lead character. Uttara worked with costume designers Sushmitha Konidela and Anju Modi in making costume sketches for each character of the film. The celebrated stylist opined that working on a mammoth project like Syeraa is no small thing and her hard work through all these years helped her to reach where she is today.
