Suriya waves a white flag to theatres?

After a WhatsApp video of a theatre operator criticizing top Tamil heroes for their cold-shouldering of standalone theatre staff who have played a big role in their careers went viral, it looks that there is some action being contemplated. Suriya seems to have been first off the block in this regard.

' Valai Pechu', a YouTube video channel quotes sources close to Suriya offering a fixed sum assistance to all the theatre staff in Tamil Nadu and the sum was fixed at Rs 3000 per theatre. This amount, obviously an inadequate sum, has been rejected by many theatre owners saying it is grossly inadequate as it may not even work out to Rs 300 per person in the theatres where they are employed. Already, many theatres are retaining their staff paying their salaries and with the uncertainty surrounding the sector, it has become very difficult to sustain it.

Whispers abound that with Suriya's forthcoming ' Soorarai Potru' receiving a censor certificate and awaiting a release date, this is a peacemaking move. Already Jyothika, Suriya's wife received only a mixed response for her direct OTT release ' Ponmagal Vandhal'.
