Is Suriya being targeted politically?
Over the past few weeks, the erstwhile Tamil hero Sivakumar's family comprising the father, his eldest son Suriya and daughter-in-law Jyothika has been the target of incessant attacks on social media and other platforms.
Specifically, Suriya, after he decided to go ahead with the OTT release of ' Ponmagal Vandhal', a film starring his wife in a prominent role. Jyothika earned the ire of a section of the Hindu religion supporters when she said that hospitals to need to be looked up and maintained well like how temples are.
Unconfirmed reports float around that the family has been identified as a key prospect by anti-Modi forces in the state as its comments have irked BJP specifically. The Congress leaders have spoken supportively of Suriya and hailed him for his social conscience also. Moreover, the actor's sister-in-law Naghma, a yesteryear heroine of southern and Hindi cinema is a Congress party leader.
So, connecting the dots, a few pundits have concluded that there is a lot of political background behind the continuous comments made by the hero and his wife. Whispers abound that Jyothika is half-Muslim as her mother is one and so she is adding her own mite to the issue.
