JK Rowling Publishes The Ickabog Children's Book on Online

The author of the Harry Potter series JK Rowling has published three chapters of a new story called 'The Ickabog' to entertain children during the Coronavirus pandemic sweeping through the world. J.K. Rowling wrote on the website dedicated to the story, 'The Ickabog' that the lockdown has been particularly hard on children.

Rowling took out 'The Ickabog' which she had put away in the attic, while she was working on a book for adults. The celebrated writer went back to rewriting the children's book and read out bits of it to her children who gave her their feedback on what they liked when they were smaller.

'The Ickabog', Rowling has said, will be published for free on her website over seven weeks chapter or two at a time. Rowling told children in advance that the story is not Harry Potter and does not include magic and added that it is an entirely different story.

JK Rowling asked her readers to illustrate the story for her and gauging from the sketches sent to her from all over on Twitter, she has drawn tremendous responses. The Harry Potter author adds that she will not be judging the competition and that each publisher will decide what works best for their editions.

J.K. Rowling announced that when her book would be published in November she will donate all the royalties to help people who have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

'The Ickabog' begins with "Once upon a time there was a country called Cornucopia which had been ruled for centuries by a long line of fair-haired kings."
