Sonam Kapoor Ahuja

Named PETA India's Person of the Year for 2018, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, turned to the vegan way of life after learning of her lactose intolerance. She gave up eating meat to strengthen her cause of animal advocacy. He fashion label, Rheson – co-owned with sister Rhea Kapoor — also keeps animal skins out of their products.

Anushka Sharma

Her Instagram feed is inundated with lovely pics of her dog, Dude, whom she loves to bits. And believe it or not, Anushka Sharma's love for Dude, who doesn't fancy meat or even the smell of it, led her to turn vegan.

Alia Bhatt

Her love for furry friends, especially cats, is not a new thing. But the actor wasn't always a vegan. She is a recent entrant to the green club. She also started an initiative for animal welfare, CoExist, which relentlessly works for stray animals in India.

Sonakshi Sinha turned vegan to support her cause of animal protection. With her newfound lifestyle, she strives to make a better place for animals in this world.

Jacqueline Fernandez

Jacqueline Fernandez has always been up in arms against cruelty against all animals. A vegan since 2013, Jackie also helped the ban of Victoria carriages (horse-drawn carriages) in Mumbai. She gave up meat for lent in 2013, and since then, it has always been the green way of life for her. "Going vegan is the best thing you can do to help stop animal suffering, protect the environment and safeguard your own health," she mentioned in one of her interviews.

Kangana Ranaut

In 2015, Kangana Ranaut turned vegan. Her journey towards this lifestyle, however, has been gradual. First, the actor turned vegetarian, but later gave up on dairy products for health reasons.

Neha Dhupia

This Bollywood beauty furthers her cause for animal protection by following a vegan lifestyle. Though she wasn't raised as a vegetarian, Neha Dhupia was never drawn to the meat, and always wanted to ditch it. "I've realised that the benefits of eating plant-based foods include feeling energetic and succeeding to keep weight in control," she was quoted as saying in a news report.

Shahid Kapoor

Hottest Vegetarian by leading international magazine, PETA's Asia's Sexiest Vegetarian (2009 and 2011), PETA India's Person of the Year for 2018 - these are the few labels Shahid Kapoor owns as a vegetarian celebrity. Raised a non-vegetarian, Shahid gave up meat after reading Brian Hines' Life Is Fair. The book advocated that killing and eating animals for food creates negative health effects for people, and since then there's been no looking back for him.

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao

When Kiran Rao showed a video to her husband, Aamir Khan, which talked about negative health effects of meat and dairy on body as well as on the environment, Mr Perfectionist decided to give up meat and adapted to the vegan way of life.

Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood's megastar Amitabh Bachchan gave up non-vegetarian fares and inched towards the better way of life in 2000. Needless to say, his state of fitness, energy and focus, even at this age, is enviable.

John Abraham

A staunch fighter of cruelty against animals, John Abraham strongly advocates the causes of animal protection. He believes that one doesn't need to rely on meat to bulk up.
