In his third year, he dropped out of college to pursue his passion in performing arts.

In 2008, he acted in Balaji Telefilms show 'Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil' in a supporting role. Sushant became a household name with his next show, 'Pavitra Rishta'.

He quit the show in two years to make his Bollywood debut with the Abhishek Kapoor's film 'Kai Po Che' in 2013. The film was a huge success, with Rajput its breakout star.

The same year he came up with Maneesh Sharma's 'Shuddh Desi Romance', it explored the concepts of love, live-in rel In 2015, Yash Raj Films' casted him in 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!'—a big film but a failure and Shekhar Kapur's ambitious 'Paani' turned down in that period.

Sushant followed that up with a big hit, 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' in 2016. Then came the failure movie 'Raabta' in 2017, an average earner in 'Kedarnath' in 2018. And Abhishek Chaubey's 'Sonchiriya' failed to impress the viewers in 2019 .

But this was not the end, in the same year he came up with 'Chhichhore' where the actor plays the father to a son who attempts suicide when he doesn't get into IIT. This movie was Sushant Singh Rajput's last theatre release.

In an interview with The Hans India Sushant, who was in Hyderabad for the promotion of his film 'Raabta', said that nepotism in Bollywood does exist and it thrives.

" I was told that TV actors don't make good film actors. In my view both are actors. It is not just a few films it is throughout your career that nepotism does help you in a big way," he shared.

There is still mystery over his suicide. His family has sought a probe into the matter alleging that it was a murder and not a case of suicide. While the police are still investigating the case.

But the fact is Sushant left us with just 10 films and it's a loss that will take time to accept. A bright young talent, who has given such memorable performances is no more and it is bound to hurt.

I always wanted to interview him but I could not. I watched all his movies even his last release 'Chhichhore'. He was an actor who smiled often and his smiling face image will remain in our hearts and will celebrate him and his work.
