As we are basking in the success of generative AI technologies which are capable of synthesizing new content, be it fiction, images, drug designs or computer code, there is also a rising concern about the effects of these technologies on planet earth. A shift from power-hungry AI to more innovative greener technologies and smarter computational models for recognition and content generation is an immediate need.

While we wait for the more energy efficient quantum computers, there is also increased interest in understanding the human brain, one of the most energy-efficient, adaptive and parallel processing architectures. Neuromorphic computing that aims at mimicking the brain architecture, can well be the choice for tomorrow’s applications.
