5 cos setting up units at MedTech Park

Hyderabad: With 17th edition of BioAsia-2020 concluding on a grand note on Wednesday, the Pearl City's position as emerging global hub of biotechnology has further been strengthened as several companies confirmed their plans to expand to Hyderabad.

As part of BioAsia-2020, Intel has announced its 'Intel AI Applied Research Centre' in the city. Telangana Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao has handed over land allotment letters to five companies - Jagore Life Sciences Pvt Ltd, Majik Medical Solutions Pvt Ltd, Arni Medica Pvt Ltd, Trident Technologies and Pulse Pharmaceuticals. The five companies will be setting up their units at MedTech Park here.

Dr Swati Piramal, Vice-Chairperson, Piramal Enterprises, suggested the Telangana government to prepare one million girls in science and mathematics to join the life sciences sector to the industry to the next level.

BioAsia, Asia's largest biotechnology and life sciences forum and the 3-day global bio-business convention, on Wednesday concluded with a large participation from the industry, government, academia, and startups. KTR inaugurated Intel's AI research centre from the BioAsia dais of the global convention. While delivering his closing remarks, KTR appreciated the organizers for making BioAsia-2020 as 'One-of-its- kind event' in the life sciences industry which has grown in size, stature and in terms of value.

"I will look forward to see BioAsia-2021 which will eventually be even bigger and better," said KTR. Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister for Science and Technology, Government of Odisha, participated in the event as Guest of Honour.
