Income Tax Filing 2019: Check your income tax refund status
If you have already submitted the income tax return (ITR) and have paid more taxes than you are due; then you are eligible to receive a refund. Although you may not have paid the advance, even when you earn income from your salary or bank interest, etc., the tax might have already been deducted at the source (TDS).
After filing the ITR, if you find that more taxes were deducted than what was due, you can claim a tax refund. Once you file your ITR, you have verified it; the income tax refund will automatically be due if the excess tax was deducted.
Once the income tax department processes the ITR and the tax refund claim is accepted, the amount owed is credited directly to your bank account. However, to obtain a tax refund, ensure that your bank account is linked to the PAN card.
