82-year-old farmer back on feet after knee surgery at city hospital
Bengaluru: An 82-year-old farmer with excruciating pain in both knees approached Prakriya Hospitals. The aged farmer has bent knees.
The hospital said the frail farmer was unable to walk without the support of a stick and had difficulty in carrying out day to day activities.
He underwent a knee replacement surgery in both legs the same day.
The surgery led by Dr Gururaj at Prakriya Hospitals, Tumakur Road, helped the farmer recuperate and, within a couple of weeks, he could climb stairs within and went back to his farm to lead an independent life in the next four weeks.
"He is happy that he underwent surgery for his arthritic knees under total knee replacement surgery according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), is one quality of life changing operation considered after the cataract surgery. Surgery takes away the pain and corrects the deformity of knees. Patients will be able to climb stairs and walk without limp or pain. Many patients have benefited from the surgery all over the world," Gururaj said.
