Bajaj Auto is set to upgrade its Pulsar range of motorcycles lineup that are sold currently to meet upcoming BS6 emission norms. In fact, the brand has already finished working on the engines and is awaiting homologation and certification. Expect Bajaj to launch the motorcycles in early 2020. At present, the Pune-based brand offers seven bikes under the Pulsar family - RS200, NS200, NS160, Pulsar 220F, Pulsar 180 Neon, Pulsar 150 (standard, Twin Disc and Neon) and Pulsar 125.

While Bajaj has remained tight-lipped about the kind of modifications involved in making the engines run cleaner, it is likely to have used fuel injection. Expect the bikes to get dearer by around Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 over the current prices. Many manufacturers including Bajaj have appealed to the government for GST sops for BS6-compliant products but it remains to be seen whether the latter will react positively to it. At present, the Pulsar lineup is priced from Rs 66,618 for the recently launched Pulsar 125 Neon to Rs 1.4 lakh for the RS200 (both, ex-showroom Delhi).

Bajaj plans to clear out its stock of existing BS4-compliant models as soon as possible so that it can start rolling out the BS6-compliant motorcycles on time. The Indian automotive space will graduate from BS4 to BS6 emission norms on 1 April 2020. In related news, Bajaj has also been working on the Urbanite electric vehicle project and the first product under this appears to be a scooter that’s reminiscent of the legendary Chetak from yesteryears. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
