YSRCP MP's demand Turpu Kapu's to be merged in BC, issues memorandum to Union Minister
YSR Congress party leaders have asked the central government to include the Turpu Kapu caste of Andhra Pradesh in the OBC list. On Wednesday, MPs Bellana Chandrasekhar, Raghuramakrishnan Raju and former MLA Ravi Suryaprakash met with Union Social Justice Minister Tawar Chand Gehlath and appealed to him to include the Turpu Kappu in the central government OBC. Former MLA Rauthu Suryaprakash told the media that former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy recognised the Turpu Kapus as part of BCs.
However, the central government has identified only three eastern districts as OBCs. He said this would be unfair to the eastern districts in the rest of the districts. He appealed to the Union Minister to include the Thurupu Kapus from the 13 districts of the state to be included in the OBC list.
He said they issued a memorandum to Union Minister Tawar Chand Gehlot on the issue. Former MLA Rauthu Suryaprakash told that the Union Minister had promised to take further action on the report of the BC Commission.
