Youth should stop aping western culture: Collector

Tirupati: The Indian youth should stop blindly aping western culture and thought and should realise the greatness of our age old culture, customs and traditions, said District Collector PS Pradyumna.

At the `National Public Relations Day' organised by Tirupati chapter of Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) here on Sunday, Pradyumna spoke on the `Role of youth in nation building' and advised the youth to imbibe the Indian thought and culture to realise the country's greatness.

``The three centuries of British rule completely blocked the achievements of ancient India in various fields of science and knowledge and left us in ignorance about these achievements while the British education system is still continuing glorifying only western thought. So the youth should come out the influence of western culture and thought to know our greatness,'' Collector said.

On the occasion, Collector Pradyumna felicitated Naveen who secured 75th rank in the civil service examination. Naveen's father Munikrishnaiah is working as Assistant Engineer in TTD. Earlier, PRSI Tirupati chapter founder president Ramakanth Sharma spoke briefly on National PRSI day.

SVU Registrar Anuradha, RSVP professor Ranisadasiva also spoke. PRSI Tirupati chapter president K Sreenivas, secretary D Chandramohan, TTD PRO T Ravi and others were present.
