Youth fests help exhibit inner talent in Tirupati

Tirupati: In tune with the National Youth Festival to be conducted by the Government of India from January 12 to 16 every year commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, division level youth festivals are being held to be followed by District and State level festivities.

Tirupati division youth festival was organised by SETVEN, Tirupati and department of youth services at SV Music and Dance College in the City on Friday. The aim of conducting youth festivals at divisional level was to encourage the representation from grass root level at the national events.

Speaking on the occasion SETVEN CEO S Lakshmi has said that these type of fests will help the youth to exhibit their innate talent and give them an opportunity to compete at various levels.

She underlined the need to protect the traditional arts for future generations for which these platforms will of great use. The concept of conducting the fests from divisional level, district level, state level and national level will inculcate the feeling of national integrity among the youth of 15-30 years age group who are eligible to participate in the youth festivals.

She said that the competitions are being held in 18 events like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi dance, folk music, folk dance, vocal, Carnatic music etc., Madanapalle divisional level festival was held on September 18 while Chittoor divisional level festival has been conducted on October 17.

On November 2 (Saturday) district level youth festival will be organised in Tirupati, she said. The first prize winners of divisional level festivals will participate in district festival and qualified candidates from it will go to state festival and from there to national festival.

Chief Guest Prof BV Muralidhar of SV University has advised the participants to be honest and perform to their full capacity. Principal of SV Music and Dance College S Jamuna Rani also spoke on the occasion. A total of 86 participants took part in the 18 events and the winners will be competed with their counterparts in other divisions at district level competition in Tirupati on Saturday.
