Whip positions cancelled in AP

Vijayawada: The AP government has taken the decision to cancel the positions of government chief whips and whips in the Legislative Assembly and Council.

On this, the state Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam has issued an order on Monday (3 June). As soon as Chandrababu Naidu resigned to Chief Minister's post the government whip positions also got cancelled.

With this, Payyavula Keshav, Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad, Buddha Venkanna has lost the whip position in the Legislative Council. Since 25 May, nine members have lost the whip positions.

On election results day (23 May), the YSRCP has achieved landslide victory by winning 151 Assembly seats. The TDP was badly defeated and they MLA candidates won in only 23 Assembly segments.

With this defeat, Chandrababu Naidu has resigned as Chief Minister. On 30 May, the YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has sworn-in as the new Chief Minister in Vijayawada.

After the swearing-in ceremony, CM YS Jagan has immediately taken up the charge over the administration and is busy with the department wise review meetings.
