Water Grid to come up in Godavari dists: Minister Kurasala

Kakinada: Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kanna Babu said that necessary steps were being taken to implement the water grid in the State to solve drinking water problems in the East Godavari district.

He inaugurated the extension of Kakinada Smart City System Integrated Command and Communication Centre taken up with Rs 5.4 crore on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that this water grid would be implemented initially in East and West Godavari districts where the underground water was getting polluted due to aquaculture.

He said that the state government was giving priority to rural areas on par with urban areas and recently some panchayats were converted into municipalities. He said that Kakinada smart city was fast growing and the smart city programme would continue up to 2020. He said that steps were taken to improve the civic amenities and to make city beautiful by improving parks.

Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy also spoke. Kanna Babu inaugurated the renovated Janmabhoomi park at Bhanugudi Junction taken up with Rs 2 crore. Muncipal Commissioner K Ramesh, SE Pallam Raju and corportators attended the programme.
