Visakhapatnam: Waltair Division opens 34 Passenger Reservation System counters
Visakhapatnam: The Indian Railways opened its Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters across its network from Friday after 59 days of lockdown.
This move comes as a major relief to the passengers stranded during lockdown.
This apart, Waltair Division has also commenced PRS counters over the division at 34 locations and also initiated operations of Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra (YTSK) counters at ten different locations. 90% of the tickets to the special trains booked through online.
Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava said "We are planning to operate refund counters for the cancelled tickets in a phased manner from Monday. Adequate measures have been taken for social distancing by drawing circles at the counters. No blanket and linen will be provided in the trains and passengers need to make their own arrangements."
The reservation will be done for the special trains run from June 1 to 30. In addition to the services of Shramik special trains, the Division has planned to run two special trains originating from Visakhapatnam such as AP express between Visakhapatnam to New Delhi and Godavari express between Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam. These trains will run with reserved berths with normal mail/express and super-fast train fare. No concessional train tickets will be allowed except four categories of Divyangjan and 11 categories of patient concessions. Waltair Division has run eight Shramik Special trains to Bihar, UP, Odisha that carried more than 10,000 migrant workers till Friday. Apart from that the Division is also running time tabled parcel express trains and goods trains to ensure the supply of essential commodities.
